Wag Wins 7 Top Dog Friendly Cafes
This week, Wag Wins have decided to write about our top 7 favourite dog friendly cafes to visit in the South West, providing you with one visit a day to put all four paws up and be served with honour.
1) The Birdhouse Café, Box
A very dog friendly, arty and bespoke cafe in the heart of Box in Wiltshire selling colourful, fresh and delicious food and great coffee, in a small, vibrant friendly atmosphere. So, if you fancy ‘ex-paw-ring’ the walk in Box mentioned in our previous Wag Wins blog, then why not plan to start/finish yourself with your pooch at The Birdhouse Café? Run by two lovely ladies who truly love dogs and welcome them warmly into their humble café, which is always smelling of fresh, tasty, homemade food!

Grouded café are a group of small independent café bars situated in the heart of Redfield, Bedminster, Horfield, Brislington, Keynsham and Fishponds in Bristol and Corsham and Melksham in Wiltshire. Every branch. Well-behaved dogs with wagging tails are welcomed in all branches of Grounded.
Grounded is listed on the dotty4paws, a directory of dog friendly establishments. We also support the Guide Dogs for the Blind charity, by hosting fundraisers and having collection tins in all of our branches. Grounded also offer events such as a regular quiz night, where you can meet other people and take your dog for company!
3) Lowden Garden Centre & Restaurant
You won’t come across too many ‘dog friendly’ garden centre restaurant’s, but Lowden’s is sure one of them! The owners love dogs and have a couple themselves who are often seen walking around the garden centre, restaurant and farm shop. Not only does the Lowden garden centre restaurant welcome dogs, but also shows a true admiration for them by all the staff. If you fancy up to treating your dog as well as your garden, then check out the Lowden garden centre dog department, where you’ll find beautiful cards, toys, treats, homeware and beds designed by fabulous people like Sophie Allport Designs!

4) The George, Bradford on Avon
A lovely dog friendly pub serving great food and a complementary biscuit for your dog at the bar, in Bradford on Avon. Wonderful food, bar and dog friendly service!
All four-legged chums are welcome at The George, they are welcome in the down stairs Vault dining room, the bar, the garden and even in our apartments for an overnight stop over.

5) The Pear Tree, Whitley
An old stone build farmhouse with rug strewn flagstones & reclaimed timber flooring, featuring worn wooden tables with mismatched furniture. The Pear Tree showcases the best local suppliers with a menu guided by the seasons. Beyond the flagstoned bar are two dining areas; the garden room, adjacent to a secluded courtyard; and a large open sunroom with exposed beams and adjacent garden terrace.
The Pear Tree have four pet friendly bedrooms and also allow pets in the Bar, Garden Room & the garden itself. Dogs must be kept on a lead at all times whilst in public areas and if you need it, we do have a supply of doggy bags available upon request. All pets are subject to a £12.50 per night surcharge.

6) Café Lucca at The Loft, Bath
The Loft is a beautiful concept store, set in the heart of Bath, on Bartlett Street Quarter. Set inside this contemporary lifestyle emporium, you’ll find Café Lucca with its inspired salads and Italian style coffee. First opened as ‘The Loft’ in 2000, Cafe Lucca has evolved, whilst maintaining the original concept, which is all about using the best seasonal produce and serving great, healthy food, beautifully presented with good restaurant service. Friendly and well-behaved dogs and children are welcome!

7) No.10 Tea Gardens, Avoncliff
No.10 Tea Gardens is an independent tea garden located next to the picturesque aqueduct at Avoncliff near Bradford on Avon, Wiltshire. All cakes, scones and jam are homemade on the premises and can be seen being baked in the open plan kitchen. What is not homemade is sourced locally including our tea, coffee, ice cream, bread, sausage rolls and pasties.
No.10 Tea Gardens philosophy is that “everyone is welcome” including dog, bicycle and child. Excellent customer service and will always greeted with a smile.
